CBT-I FAQ
Yes, research shows that CBT-I is at least as effective as prescription sleep medications. (It also has longer-lasting gains and a lower risk of side effects.) The American College of Physicians (ACP), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) all recommend CBT-I for chronic insomnia.
Yes, we use a secure HIPAA-compliant platform. Patient privacy is a top priority here at The Online Insomnia Center™.
Not exactly. Sleep hygiene is a part of CBT-I, but it is just one piece of the overall puzzle. Specifically, sleep hygiene consists of the habits that promote healthy and restful sleep. These include maintaining a consistent sleep schedule and creating a comfortable sleep environment. CBT-I involves all of this plus stimulus control, sleep restriction, and cognitive reframing.
Telemedicine (also known as “telehealth”) provides remote healthcare services through the use of video calls and HIPAA-compliant digital platforms. It allows patients to connect with healthcare professionals like Dr. Rosenblum without the need for in-person visits.
No, not at this time. The Online Insomnia Center™ only offers CBT-I services online via telemedicine.
Dr. Rosenblum has been approved by Psypact to provide CBT-I throughout most of the United States. Please click here to find out whether you reside in a state or city that offers CBT-I.
No, The Online Insomnia Center™ has decided not to formally join any insurance network. That said, out-of-network coverage has its own unique set of pros and cons.
These are just some of the benefits of working with an out-of-network provider:
1) You can see who you want and aren’t restricted by insurance.
2) You can see the provider immediately and do not need to wait for prior authorization.
3) You are not limited to how many times or how frequently you can see your provider.
4) You will know all costs ahead of time. Insurance companies often have a complicated system, and clients may not know what they are responsible for until it is too late. The Online Insomnia Center™ supports the “No Surprise Act” and will let you know how much each session costs ahead of time.
5) Speaking of finances, when seeing an in-network provider, you still risk being responsible for the full cost of treatment. (This often occurs when you have yet to meet your insurance plan’s deductible.)
6) Some insurance plans also offer out-of-network coverage. Note that The Online Insomnia Center™ will give you a superbill after each session that you can submit to your insurance.
